Noli Aurillo's Tribute to MJ
Here's my own adaptation of some of Michael Jackson's best hits. This compilation is not intended for copyright infringement but rather as salutations to the world's most popular child of music-- the all-time magical king of song and dance.
Moonwalking in the heavens now in eternal bliss, Michael selflessly gave his all thru his music --
guess now it's our time to give it back.
To his immortality, i raise my glass. . .

Taylor Swift - Fearless (2008)

Fearless is the second studio album by American country pop artist Taylor Swift, and was released on November 11, 2008 on Big Machine Records. The album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 592,304 copies in its first week, the best first-week sales for a female artist in 2008. Fearless became the first album to sell one million copies in 2009
Fearless has received generally positive reviews from music critics. According to the music review aggregator Metacritic, it has received an average score of 73, many fans though think its better than Swift's first album.
Newsday gave the album an "A" rating, calling it "Wise beyond her years". James Reed of the Boston Globe gave the album a strong positive review saying the "Young country star's 'Fearless' proves she's just that, and more". Allmusic quote the way Swift writes her music and how she matured into her new album: "Swift's gentle touch is as enduring as her songcraft, and this musical maturity may not quite jibe with her age but it does help make Fearless one of the best mainstream pop albums of 2008."
Rolling Stone magazine said that her "music mixes an almost impersonal professionalism - it's so rigorously crafted it sounds like it has been scientifically engineered in a hit factory - with confessions that are squirmingly intimate and true." Fearless is listed as the 39th best album of 2008 by Rolling Stone.

Paula Cole - This Fire (1996)

Paula Cole originally released This Fire on October 15, 1996 on the Warner Bros. Records label. If you’re a Paula Cole fan this is a CD your collection flat cannot be without. In fact, this is one of those CDs that you don’t even have to be a fan of Cole, or even Rock to know is good. It’s just good music.
This Fire is a nicely varied, mix of 11 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly superb artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are her own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions like love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard.
Personnel: Paula Cole (vocals, piano, Juno synthesizer, Wurlitzer electric piano, harmonium, beat box, toy xylophone, didjeridoo, clarinet); Peter Gabriel (vocals); Gerry Leonard (guitar); Greg Leisz (guitar, pedal & lap steel guitars); Wenyi Shih, Elizabeth Knowles (violin); Judith Insell (viola); Chase Morrison (cello); Seamus Egan (Uilleann pipes, whistle); Tony Levin (bass, Chapman stick); Jay Bellerose (drums, percussion); Kevin Killen.
Engineers: Roger Moutenot, Kevin Killen, Gerry Leonard.
Recorded at Bearsville Studio, Bearsville, New York; The Magic Shop, Paula's apartment and Shelter Island Studio, New York, New York.

Uriah Heep - Sweet Freedom (1973)

Uriah Heep is an English rock band, formed in December 1969 when record producer Gerry Bron invited keyboardist Ken Hensley (previously a member of The Gods and Toe Fat) to join Spice, a band signed to his own Bronze Records label.
They were sometimes jokingly referred to as "The Beach Boys of heavy metal" for their melodic songs, and trademark multi-part harmony backing vocals, although their music draws on diverse influences including progressive rock, hard rock, heavy metal, jazz, and even country on occasion.
Sweet Freedom is the sixth studio album released by British rock band Uriah Heep.
The original vinyl release was as a gatefold-sleeve, reproducing the lyrics within. There was also a central page with a photograph of each band member.
It was the first album of Uriah Heep's to be released by Warner Bros. Records in the USA.
Arguably the best-known song from Sweet Freedom is "Stealin' ". On the Billboard charts, Sweet Freedom was received #33 in the U.S., and #18 in the UK
Sweet Freedom was certified Gold by the RIAA on March 5, 1974.

Pat Benatar - Love Is a Battlefield (1983)

"Love Is a Battlefield" is a song written by Holly Knight and Mike Chapman, after Pat Benatar asked Chapman to write her a hit song.[1] It was released as a single from Benatar's album Live from Earth, which was popular in 1983 and 1984. The single has been certified gold and is her highest charting single in the United States, as it topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for four weeks and made number five on the Billboard Hot 100. It topped the Australian singles chart for five weeks in 1984. The song was finally released in the United Kingdom in March 1985 and reached #17.
The music video, which depicted Benatar as a teenage runaway, was nominated for an MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video and was viewable on the DVD for the movie 13 Going on 30. The single was unlike most of Benatar's previous work, as it featured an electronic dance element, but guitars and drums were still present. The song won Benatar a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.

The Eagles - Desperado ( 1973 )
The Eagles, Bernie Leadon (vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin); Glenn Frey (vocals, guitar, piano); Randy Meisner (vocals, bass instrument); Don Henley (vocals, drums).
Recording information: Island Studios, London, England.
The Eagles' excellent debut indicated that they were quickly on their way to becoming one of America's leading country-rock acts. DESPERADO, their second release, ostensibly a concept album about an outlaw figure of the Old West, furthered their claim. Recorded in London under the aegis of Glyn Johns, the set was marked by the quartet's highly measured playing, distinctive, high-flown harmonies, and accessible folk and country-flavored pop-rock. Desperado may not be as cohesive as its predecessor, but the different styles it encompasses mirror the Eagles' many strengths.
"Twenty-one" is Flying Burrito Brothers-style country-rock, "Out of Control" is amped-up blues-rock, whereas the title track is a plaintive, melancholic piano ballad (abetted by a string section). Don Henley plays a bigger part on DESPERADO, lending vocals and co-writing much of the material, including the opener "Doolin Dalton" and the lazy, beautiful "Tequila Sunrise," the record's single. The Eagles' sophomore album showed them developing their signature style, and achieving the radio-friendly sheen they would refine over the next two albums, then perfect on 1976's HOTEL CALIFORNIA.
"Desperado" is a song by the rock band Eagles, written by Glenn Frey and Don Henley. It first appeared on the 1973 album Desperado, and has later appeared on numerous compilation albums.
Don Henley stated in the notes written in the booklet to Eagles' 2003 "The Very Best Of" compilation, that Desperado was a piece of a song that he had written in 1968. He said,
It was called something else, but it was the same melody, same chords. I think it had something to do with Astrology.
Accompanied by Glenn Frey on piano, the lead vocalist, Don Henley, begs the subject of the song, a "desperado", to return home, implies that this deperado is using pleasure to avoid dealing with his pain, and tells him that these pleasures will hurt him eventually.
Some Classic rock stations will play this song immediately following "Doolin Dalton" and then afterwards, segue into the "Doolin Dalton/Desperado" reprise.
While this is one of the Eagles' signature songs, it was never released as a single. "Desperado" was voted #494 in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Spandau Ballet - The best of (1997)

Spandau Ballet are a popular British band famous in the 1980s. Initially inspired by the New Romantic fashion, they quickly steered in to a mixture of funk, jazz, soul and synthpop, then eventually mellowed into a mainstream pop act. They continued to be tagged New Romantics, though, well into the mid '80s, long after that genre had waned, and their own style had long since changed. The band was called 'The Makers' in the early years, but profess to have changed their name after a friend’s (BBC London 94.9 DJ Robert Elms) visit to Spandau, a borough of Berlin, the most likely inspiration being from graffiti he saw in the lavatory of a club in The Venue, London (Victoria) in 1978/9, where members of the originally named band worked. These members were (Michael J) Mick Austin (now artist), David Wardill (later David Agar of The Passions), Mark Robinson (now 3D artist/musician), and Gordon Bowman (Drums) (now training in social care)[citation needed]. They had played under the name Spandau Ballet since 1978 and had played in London once under this name at the Hope & Anchor, Islington, London on 6 May 1979 supporting The Softies. The new Spandau Ballet, with Martin Kemp and Tony Hadley, began performing with this name and generating a positive buzz around London.

Timothy B. Schmit - Playin' It Cool (1984)

Timothy Bruce Schmit (born October 30, 1947, in Oakland, California) is an American bass guitar player and singer best known as a member of Poco and the Eagles.
Raised in Sacramento, he began playing in the folk music group Tim, Tom & Ron at age 15. That group evolved into a surf band called the Contenders, then changed its name to the New Breed. Changing its name once again to Glad, the group recorded the album Feelin' Glad in 1968.
In 1970, Schmit joined Poco, replacing founding member Randy Meisner as bassist. After noted tenures in supergroup the Eagles and equally super (but not as supergroup-ish) Poco, Schmit took a cue from his former band mates Don Henley and Glenn Frey and took a stab at a solo career with Playin' It Cool. Not as gifted a songwriter as Henley or Frey, Schmit holds his own in the vocal department and the musicianship is on par with either of his colleagues. But what makes Playin' It Cool sound bit par is the erratic nature of the tracks. The production on several of these tunes sound antiquated in comparison to the super glossed production of the mid eighties; almost reminiscent of Schmit's tunes in the Eagles. It certainly doesn't help matters that many of his Southern California pals (Henley, Carl Wilson, Joe Walsh and JD Souther) make guest appearances, leading to the notion that Playin' It Cool is an album that was several years in the making. It's not the worst of Eagles solo records, but it is certainly nowhere near the best either. Thankfully, Schmit would re-tool his sound and deliver more promising material with later records.

Styx - Greatest Hits (1995)

Styx - Greatest Hits is a compilation album by the American rock band Styx. It was released by A&M Records on August 22, 1995.
This album essentially replaced Styx's previous greatest hits album, Styx - Classics, Volume 15, which was released by A&M in 1987. That previous album had excluded the hit song "Lady" because the song was originally recorded for and released through Wooden Nickel Records (which also had a distribution arrangement with RCA Records). Because A&M/Polygram had been unable to secure distribution rights to the song, most of the classic lineup of Styx (Dennis DeYoung, Tommy Shaw, Chuck Panozzo, and James "J.Y." Young) reunited to re-record the track at Dennis' home studio, The White Room. They were joined by uncredited session drummer Todd Suchermann, who filled in for John Panozzo due to Panozzo's failing health. The track, which is very similar to the original, was titled "Lady '95".
With the exception of "Lady '95", Styx - Greatest Hits features the original album versions of all the other songs included in the compilation. "Come Sail Away" is presented here in its full 6:05 version and "Miss America" is here in its original studio version (despite the CD's packaging showing incorrect time listings for both tracks.

Bob Seger - Night Moves (1976)

Night Moves (Lyrics)
I was a little too tall
Could've used a few pounds
Tight pants points hardly reknown
She was a black haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own sitting way up high
Way up firm and high
Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy
Out in the back seat of my '60 Chevy
Workin' on mysteries without any clues
Workin' on our night moves
Trying' to make some front page drive-in news
Workin' on our night moves in the summertime
In the sweet summertime
We weren't in love oh no far from it
We weren't searching for some pie in the sky summit
We were just young and restless and bored
Living by the sword
And we'd steal away every chance we could
To the backroom, the alley, the trusty woods
I used her she used me
But neither one cared
We were getting our share
Workin' on our night moves
Trying to lose the awkward teenage blues
Workin' on out night moves
In the summertime
And oh the wonder
Felt the lightning
And we waited on the thunder
Waited on the thunder
I woke last night to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closing in.
"Night Moves" was named by Rolling Stone as Best Single of the Year for 1977. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame named it one of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll, Seger's only such selection.

Buklod - Kanlungan (2005)

A folk singer in the '80s that can be credited to bringing to a wider audience in the now-popular acoustic music scene, Buklod became one of the most popular alternative rock artists in the Philippines for his advocacy campaigns reflecting the hearts and minds of every Filipino.
Noel Cabangon a pioneer of Buklod became a household name when “Kanlungan” went commercial. Every true-blooded Filipino of all ages couldn’t have possibly missed the simple yet touching melody that once graced television advertisements. But little did everybody know that this acoustic artist has been an avid Greenpeace supporter. He has been a Greenpeace volunteer since 1996. Here is the song Kanlungan: (Tagalog)
Kanlungan;
Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon
Maibabalik ba ang kahapon
Natatandaan mo pa ba,
Nang tayong dalwa'y ang unang nagkita
Panahon ng kamusmusan
Sa piling ng mga bulaklak at halaman
Doon tayong nagsimulang
Mangarap at tumula
Natatandaan mo pa ba,
Inukit kong puso sa punong mangga
At ang inalay kong gumamela
Magkahawak-kamay sa dalampasigan
Malayang tulad ng mga ibon
Ang gunita ng ating kahapon
Ang mga puno't halaman
Ay kabiyak ng ating gunita
Sa paglipas ng panahon
Bakit kailangan ding lumisan
Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon
Maibabalik ba ang kahapon
Ngayon ikaw ay nagbalik
At tulad ko rin ang iyong pananabik
Makita ang dating kanlungan
Tahanan ng ating tula at pangarap
Ngayon ay naglaho na
Saan hahanapin pa
Lumilipas ang panahon
Kabiyak ng ating gunita
Ang mga puno't halaman
Bakit kailangan lumisan
Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon
Maibabalik ba ang kahapon
Lumilipas ang panahon
Kabiyak ng ating gunita
Ang mga puno't halaman
Bakit kailangan lumisan
Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon

Barbra Streisand - Duets (2004)

Duets is the 42nd album by Barbra Streisand. It is a collection of some of Streisand's duet performances recorded both in the studio and live between 1963 and 2002. The album contains two newly recorded songs, one with Barry Manilow.
In her lengthy career, Barbra Streisand has never shown much inclination to share the spotlight. In the movies, she must endure a leading man, but in her recordings, she has gone it alone for the most part. In 1978, however, a disc jockey edited together her and Neil Diamond's recordings of "You Don't Bring Me Flowers," and she and Diamond quickly cut a real duet, resulting in a number one hit. Thereafter, she cannily coaxed others into sharing the microphone, resulting in chart singles with Donna Summer, Barry Gibb, Kim Carnes, former boyfriend Don Johnson, Bryan Adams, and Celine Dion, and album tracks with Johnny Mathis, Michael Crawford, and Vince Gill. The material mostly consisted of mediocre adult contemporary ballads that were outshone by the star power of the singers. This album collects all those duets, plus a couple of newly recorded mediocre adult contemporary ballads sung with Barry Manilow and a few stray tracks from the 1960s and early '70s when Streisand joined another singer. Her unsuitability to the duet format is repeatedly evidenced, as she seems virtually incapable of shutting up when her partner is trying to take a solo, invariably humming in the background to draw attention back to herself. The only real exception to this rule is the version of "I've Got a Crush on You" recorded for Frank Sinatra's own Duets album, a track Streisand did not control. Naturally, the best performances occur when she is paired with a singer who is more than just a cipher -- Sinatra, Ray Charles, or Judy Garland, the latter two in TV performances. Then, of course, there's the medley of "One Less Bell to Answer" and "A House Is Not a Home" on which she finally finds the perfect duet partner, her overdubbed self!
Tracklist:
01. I Won't Be The One To Let Go (Duet with Barry Manilow)
02. Guilty (Duet with Barry Gibb)
03. You Don't Bring Me Flowers (Duet with Neil Diamond)

Joe Jackson - Look Sharp! (1979)

A brilliant, accomplished album, Look Sharp! established Joe Jackson as part of that camp of angry, intelligent young new wavers (the likes of, Elvis Costello, Graham Parker etc.) who approached pop music with the sardonic attitude and tense, aggressive energy of punk. Not as indebted to pub rock as Parker and Costello, and much more lyrically straightforward than the latter, Jackson delivers a set of bristling, insanely catchy pop songs that seethe with energy and frustration. Several deal with the lack of thoughtful reflection in everyday life ("Sunday Papers," "Got the Time"), but many more concern the injuries and follies of romance. In the caustic yet charming witticisms of songs like the hit "Is She Really Going Out With Him?," "Happy Loving Couples," "Fools in Love," and "Pretty Girls," Jackson presents himself on the one hand as a man of integrity seeking genuine depth in love (and elsewhere), but leavens his stance with a wry, self-effacing humor, revealing his own vulnerability to loneliness and to purely physical attraction. Look Sharp! is the sound of a young man searching for substance in a superficial world -- and it also happens to rock like hell.
virtually free of instrumental overdubs, a tactic that emphasized the wound-up riffing of Jackson's three-piece backing band and silhouetted the contours of the his painstakingly crafted pop songs, with their crisp syntax and high-concept refrains.
Look Sharp's "One More Time" and "Sunday Papers" were a welcome merger of edginess and ear candy, which connected immediately with fans who couldn't abide the brutal fun of "God Save the Queen." The album made the Top Twenty, providing A&M bigwigs with a certified punk auteur. Though Jackson would never achieve Costello's cachet, his early work holds up alongside that of his rival.

Don McLean (born to Elizabeth and Donald on October 2, 1945 in New Rochelle, New York) is an American singer-songwriter. He is most famous for his 1971 album American Pie, containing the renowned songs "American Pie" and "Vincent".
The McLean clan traces its roots to the Isle of Mull in the Scottish Hebrides. Both Don’s grandfather and father were named Donald McLean which sometimes led to confusion as Don was also christened Donald McLean. Don’s mother’s family, the Buccis, came from Abruzzi in southern Italy. They left Italy and settled in Port Chester, N.Y. at the end of the 19th century.
Don McLean's most famous composition, "American Pie", is a sprawling, impressionistic ballad inspired partly by the deaths of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J. P. Richardson (The Big Bopper) in a plane crash in 1959. The song would popularize the expression The Day the Music Died in reference to this event. McLean has stated that the lyrics are also somewhat autobiographical and present an abstract story of his life from the mid-1950s until the time he wrote the song in the late 1960s.
The song was recorded on 26 May 1971 and a month later received its first radio airplay on New York’s WNEW-FM and WPLJ-FM to mark the closing of The Fillmore East, a famous New York concert hall. "American Pie" reached number one on the U.S. Billboard magazine charts for four weeks in 1972, and remains McLean's most successful single release. The single also topped the Billboard Easy Listening survey. It is also the longest song to reach No. 1 with a running time of 8:36. Some stations played only part one of the original split-sided single release.

Kenny Rankin - Best of Kenny Rankin - (1996)

Kenny Rankin was raised in New York and was introduced to music by his mother who sang at home and for friends. Early in his career he worked as a singer-songwriter, and developed a considerable following during the 70s with a steady flow of albums, three of which broke into the Top 100 of the Billboard Album Chart. His liking for jazz was evident from an early age but the times were such that in order to survive his career had to take a more pop-oriented course. By the 90s, however, he was able to angle his repertoire to accommodate his own musical preferences and to please a new audience while still keeping faith with the faithful. Rankin's warm singing style and his soft, nylon-stringed guitar sound might suggest an artist more attuned to the supper-club circuit than the jazz arena, but his work contains many touches that appeal to the jazz audience.
His accompanists might include Alan Broadbent, Mike Wofford and Bill Watrous, and on such occasions the mood slips easily into a jazz groove. His compositions have been performed by artists such as Mel Tormé and Carmen McRae, while Stan Getz said of him that he was "a horn with a heartbeat". Stephen Bishop had a major hit in 1977 with his song "On and On", which was a #11 hit in the U.S. Rankin is deeply interested in Brazilian music and his Here In My Heart, on which he used jazz guests including Michael Brecker and Ernie Watts, was recorded mostly in Rio De Janeiro.

James Taylor - JT (1977)

James Taylor! This album finds JT with one foot still in his early singer-songwriter mode, with the smooth "Secret O' Life" being a prime example of that style here. His other foot is kicking around covers of songs other people made famous, and on JT the breakout cover was the mega-hit "Handy Man." Other strong songs include the bouncy "Your Smiling Face"; the satirical and empathetic "Traffic Jam"; and the relaxed but heartfelt "Terra Nova." So, stuck in traffic? I always get a hum of this song whenever traffic got me. huh., here's the lyric....
(Chorus)
Damn
This traffic jam,
How I hate
To be late.
It hurts my motor to go so slow.
Damn
This traffic jam,
Time I get home my supper'll be cold.
Damn
This traffic jam.
Well, I left my job about 5 o'clock,
It took 15 minutes go three blocks—
Just in time to stand in line,
With the freeway looking like a parking lot.
{Repeat Chorus}
Now, I almost had a heart attack—
Looking in my rear view mirror.
I saw myself the next car back,
Looking in the rear view mirror,
'Bout to have a heart attack.
I said . . .
{Repeat Chorus}
Now, when I die I don't want no coffin;
I've thought about it all too often.
Just strap me in behind the wheel
And bury me with my automobile.
{Repeat Chorus}
Now, I used to think that I was cool,
Running around on fossil fuel.
Until I saw what I was doing—
Was driving down the road to ruin.

Jackson Browne - For Every Man (1973)

This album, For Everyman may not be a success as his debut album, yet, it still sold a million copies. The upbeat "Take It Easy," co-written with The Eagles' Glenn Frey, had already been a big hit for that group, while "These Days" (actually written by Browne and first recorded by Nico in 1967) captured the essence of Browne's youthful, morose angst. The title track, meanwhile, was the first of Browne's studies of personal exploration, soul-searching, and despair set against the backdrop of a decaying society.
The song "For Everyman" was written for David Crosby in response to his song "Wooden Ships", and Crosby sings harmony vocals on the track! Elton John plays
piano on Red Neck Friend (credited as Rockaday Johnnie).
The album is also notable for David Lindley's contributions. He appears on every track and would become an integral part of Jackson's sound for the next
decade. The cover of the album shows Jackson sitting in the courtyard of his childhood home, The Abbey, and early pressings were designed with a cutout
so that when the inner jacket was removed, it cleverly showed the same photo without Jackson.
Produced by Jackson Browne; Released October 15, 1973 on Asylum Records.

Triumph - Just A Game (1979)

Triumph's first worldwide release, Rock & Roll Machine, had caused a small splash within hard rock circles, but audiences were still unsure of what to make of this power trio's suspicious similarities to Canadian elder statesmen Rush. Indeed, it was only with the release of 1979's Just a Game that Triumph would take measures (albeit tentative ones) to establish their own personality as a slightly bluesier and heavier counterpart to their famed countrymen. Once again produced by bassist, keyboard player, and all-around peacekeeper Mike Levine, the album's first single, "Lay It on the Line," was quite possibly their best ever, going on to become a staple of their live performances, and arguably, the band's signature tune. Guitarist Rik Emmett is in fine form throughout, also scoring high marks with the upbeat "Hold On" and the elaborate title track. But by comparison, drummer Gil Moore's contributions take a serious nosedive into irritating musical clichés, especially on the monotonous blues of "Young Enough to Cry" and the unbearably cheesy lyrics of "American Girls." At times, Triumph still can't help but sound derivative of any number of the era's top bands, and besides the always present Rush similarities, they also allude to Chicago pomp rockers Styx on the chorus of "Movin' On." All things considered, however, Just a Game remains one of the group's best all-around efforts. ~ Ed Rivadavia
Triumph is a Canadian hard rock band that was popular in the late 1970s through the 1980s. Eight of the band's albums were certified gold or higher, and Triumph was nominated for multiple Juno Awards, including Group of the Year Award in 1979, 1985, 1986 and 1987.

Pablo Cruise - A Place In The Sun (1977)
A Place in the Sun is the third album by the California soft rock group Pablo Cruise. The album marked an entrance into the mainstream for the band, and the first single from the album, Whatcha Gonna Do? reached number 6 on the Pop Singles charts. The title track, A Place in the Sun was the second and less successful single on the album, reaching number 42, but remains the favorite among many fans of the band today.
A Place in the Sun
by Pablo Cruise
Well everybody's heart needs a holiday sometime.
And everyone of us needs to get away, somehow.
So I'm laughing lighthearted moods, oh, the sight-seeing afternoons.
And tellin' a joke or two, 'cause ev'ryday invites you to find
Your place in the sun,
It's time to find your place in the sun.
(find your place, find your place in the sun)
It's time to find your place in the sun.
Everybody's pannin' for gold, and you can find it for a price.
Love always promises to last forever, but sometimes it just don't work out.
'Cause laughing lighthearted tunes, oh, sometimes they turn to blues.
So tell yourself a joke or two, 'cause ev'ry day invites you to find
Your place in the sun,
It's time to find your place in the sun.

Run With The Pack is Bad Company's third album. It was released in 1976.

Their cover of the old Coasters single "Young Blood" peaked at #27. The album also spawned rock radio classics like the title track, "Silver, Blue and Gold" and "Live For the Music". Although Silver Blue and Gold remains one of the band's most popular compositions, the song was never released as a single.

Simon And Garfunkel - Old Friends
Old friends,
Sat on their park bench
Like bookends.
A newspaper blown through the grass
Falls on the 'round toes
On the high shoes
Of the old friends.
Old friends.
Winter companions,
The old men
Lost in their overcoats,
Waiting for the sunset.
The sounds of the city,
Sifting through trees,
Settle like dust
On the shoulders
Of the old friends
Can you imagine us
Years from today,
Sharing a park bench quietly?
How terribly strange
To be seventy.
Old friends,
Memory brushes the same years,
Silently sharing the same fear..

Jesus Christ Superstar (1971)

Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1970 rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The album musical is a musical dramatisation of the last week of the life of Jesus Christ, beginning with his entry into Jerusalem and ending with the Crucifixion. It highlights the political and interpersonal struggles of Judas Iscariot and Jesus. The musical is based on the canonical gospels' accounts of the last week of Jesus' life, beginning with Jesus and his followers arriving in Jerusalem and ending with the Crucifixion. Twentieth-century attitudes and sensibilities as well as contemporary slang pervade the lyrics, and ironic allusions to modern life are scattered throughout the political depiction of the events. Stage and film productions accordingly feature many intentional anachronisms. A large part of the plot focuses on the character of Judas who is depicted as a tragic figure who is dissatisfied with what he views as Jesus's lack of planning, and is alarmed by the relatively recent claims of his divinity. The album's story is based on the Gospel according to John. However, greater emphasis is placed on the interpersonal relationships of the major characters, in particular, Jesus, Judas and Mary Magdalene.
The album reached #1 on the Billboard chart in 1971 and served as a launching pad for numerous stage productions on Broadway and in the West End.

Juan DeLa Cruz Band - Super Session Live (1975)

The original Juan Dela Cruz Band, consisting of Wally Gonzalez (guitar), Sandy Tagarro (bass guitar), Edmund Fortuno (drums), Bing Labrador (organ), and Alex Cruz (saxophones & flute), was formed in 1970. (Source: PinoyClassicRock.com) They performed that year at the Antipolo Rock Festival (patterned after the legendary Woodstock Rock Festival of 1969) and was subsequently tapped as the featured rock band in tandem with the Manila Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Redentor Romero) for the Philippine production of the rock opera by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jesus Christ Superstar, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Consequent to his dramatic part as the Judas character in the rock opera production, Sandy Tagarro vacated his instrumentalist role in the group and was replaced by Clifford Ho as bass guitarist.
The state of Juan Dela Cruz's flux and gradual dissolution led Wally Gonzales to reconvene an all-new powerhouse trio, together with Joey Smith (later a.k.a. "Pepe Smith") as singer-drummer-composer; and with singer-bassist-composer Mike Hanopol. Smith and Hanopol collaborated in Tokyo with Japanese guitarist Shinki Chen in a "free-rock" trio setup called Speed, Glue & Shinki, which had released two seminal albums for Atlantic Records Japan. Rock music historian Julian Cope narrates in his book, Japrocksampler (Bloomsberry, 2007), that Shinki Chen had recruited Joey Smith (and later, Mike Hanopol) from a Filipino rock group
The ensuing album by the iconic trio of Gonzales, Smith & Hanopol, unfurling its masterly title track, Himig Natin (translated in English, "Our Hymn"), went on to become the anthem of Manila's post-hippie culture and underground radio network, particularly the DZRJ-AM Radio show, "Pinoy Rock 'n' Rhythm" --later on shortened to Pinoy Rock. "Himig Natin" famously rallied Pinoy Rock, which swelled into a movement and provided indicators of its yet-unrealized commercial fuel. The social impact and innovations of the Juan Dela Cruz Band inadvertently became the catalyst for the inception of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and the viability for diverse, originally-authored musical genres to emerge and thrive in the Philippines. Now

The Hues Corporations - Rockin' Soul (1976)
The Hues Corporation was a pop and soul trio formed at Santa Monica California in 1969. They are best known for their 1974 hit, "Rock the Boat". Before their success they were the opening act for some stars including Frank Sinatra, Milton Berle, Nancy Sinatra, and Glen Campbell. The original band had a line up of three singers and three sidemen. The sidemen were Joey Rivera from the Checkmates, Monti Lawston, and Bob "Bullet" Bailey formerly of the Leaves. Before the group had a hit single they performed as an opening act for Flash Cadillac, Ike Turner, and Delaney Bramlett of Delaney Bonnie and Friends fame. Bailey, Rivera, and Lawston left the band to form Goodstuff.
The group's first big break came in 1972 when they were invited to appear in the blaxploitation film, Blacula, starring William Marshall. They were also asked to record three songs for the film's soundtrack; "There He Is Again", "What The World Knows" and "I'm Gonna Catch You". Shortly after, RCA signed the group and their first single, "Freedom For The Stallion", from the album of the same name, became a moderate hit, reaching #63 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Mark Almond (1976)

Mark Almond were an English band of the late 1960s and early 1970s, who worked in the territory between rock and jazz. In 1970 Jon Mark and Johnny Almond formed Mark-Almond (also occasionally referred to as The Mark-Almond Band). The melancholy tones of saxophonist Almond were an integral part of the group's sound, and Almond frequently played flutes as well, including the rarely-heard bass flute. Characterized by a blend of blues and jazz riffs, latin beats, and a mellow rock aesthetic, and in contrast the heavier guitar-driven rock of his contemporaries, composer and band leader Mark worked at producing warm and melodic works.
Jon Mark eventually moved to New Zealand in the mid-1980s and has released a number of successful solo New Age music recordings on his White Cloud music label, as well as collaborating with other artists on traditional Celtic and folk recordings and producing other artists. A release of Tibetan Monk chants Mark recorded and produced with his wife Thelma Burchell won a Grammy award in 2004. Johnny Almond at last report was living in the San Francisco Bay area.

REO Speedwagon - Collections (2006)

REO Speedwagon took its name from the REO Speed Wagon, a flatbed truck and fire engine, manufactured by the REO Motor Car Company. ("R.E.O." are initials of the company's founder, Ransom Eli Olds, who also founded Oldsmobile, once a division of General Motors.)
REO Speedwagon was formed by students attending the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois, in the fall of 1967 to play cover songs in campus bars. The first line up consisted of Alan Gratzer on drums and vocals, Neal Doughty on keyboards, Joe Matt on guitar and vocals and Mike Blair on bass and vocals. In the spring of 1968, Terry Luttrell became lead singer, and Bob Crownover and Gregg Philbin replaced Matt and Blair. Joe McCabe played sax at this time until moving to SIU. Crownover played guitar for the group until the summer of 1969 when Bill Fiorio replaced him. Fiorio then departed in late 1969, eventually assuming the name Duke Tumatoe, and went on to form the All Star Frogs. Another guitarist, Steve Scorfina, came aboard briefly, and was replaced by Gary Richrath in late 1970.
Richrath was a Peoria, Illinois-based guitar player and prolific songwriter who brought original material to the band including REO's signature song "Ridin' the Storm Out." With Richrath on board, the regional popularity of the band grew tremendously. The Midwestern United States was the original REO Speedwagon fan stronghold and is pivotal in this period of the band's history.
The band signed to Epic Records in 1971. Paul Leka, an East Coast record producer, brought the band to his recording studio in Bridgeport, Connecticut where it recorded original material for its first album. The lineup on the first album consisted of Richrath, Gratzer, Doughty, Philbin, and Luttrell.

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath (1970)

he album cover features a depiction of Mapledurham Watermill, situated on the River Thames in Oxfordshire, England. Standing in front of the watermill is a figure dressed in black robes. This is perhaps an allusion to the lyrics of their eponymous song: "A figure in black, which points at me". On the original release, the inner gatefold sleeve featured an inverted cross with a poem written inside of it. Vertigo, the band's record label, was allegedly responsible for adding the cross. The band was upset when they discovered this, as it fuelled allegations that they were Satanists or Occultists
In August 1969 the band, who were then known as Earth, decided to change their name to Black Sabbath. Around the same time they recorded and distributed a demo version of their eponymous song. In December 1969 they recorded and released their debut single, "Evil Woman". In January 1970, the band recorded and mixed the remaining seven songs that would appear on their debut album. The songs were recorded "live" and the entire process took just three days. Guitarist Tony Iommi recalls recording live: "We thought 'We have two days to do it and one of the days is mixing.' So we played live. Ozzy was singing at the same time, we just put him in a separate booth and off we went. We never had a second run of most of the stuff."

Savoy Brown - Shake Down

Originally known as the Savoy Brown Blues Band, their 1969 single “Train to Nowhere” (with singer Chris Youlden), was viewed by many as the last gasp of the blues scene in Great Britain. Although Savoy Brown never reached much acclaim in their home nation, they developed a loyal core following in the United States, due to songs such as “I’m Tired” (from their album, A Step Further), a driving, melodic song. They were one of the bands that UK Decca (US London/Parrot) stuck with through the lean times until they started selling records (it took 4 or 5 albums until they started to sell in the US). In the late 1960s and 1970s, the band managed to penetrate the Billboard Hot 100. Superstardom perpetually evaded them, perhaps in part because of their frequent lineup changes, but despite that, Hellbound Train was a big album for them in the US.
While the band is still active today, only Kim Simmonds has stayed since the beginning. Guitarist “Lonesome” Dave Peverett, bassist Tony Stevens, and drummer Roger Earl went on to form Foghat. Original member and harmonica player, John O’Leary, is still active on the British blues circuit with The John O’Leary Band. Savoy Brown’s first album, Shake Down, featured lead vocalist Bryce Portius. Portius was one of the first black blues musicians to be a part of a British rock band. Another singer, Dave Walker, would later join Fleetwood Mac and Black Sabbath. Their bassists included Andy Pyle, later with The Kinks, and Andy Sylvester, also with Chicken Shack.
